Solidarity with the Ambulance Service Workers!

Statement from CSN

On Tuesday, 12/05, the ambulance workers across the 26-counties began their 24-hour strike after the state failed to deliver on the recommended wage increases, in kind with their increased duties. Paramedics are an essential component in emergency services and are not simply "ambulance drivers" but life savers. They have routinely been undercut through wage disparities that do not account for long hours and already existing strain with staffing shortages. Paramedics today require more specific training in order to provide essential pre-hospital care yet they are still functionally classed as "unskilled labour."

Talks in the Labour Courts are expected to take place today to discuss terms before the 48 hour strike, scheduled for the 19th of May. Conradh na Saoirse Náisiúnta stands unequivocally behind the NAS workers and for full implementation of their demands.
